Combat System Guide
Master the art of battle in Aetheria. This guide covers stats, resistances, and combat strategy.
Core Stats
- Attack — Determines your damage output with melee weapons
- Defense — Reduces incoming physical damage
- Armor — Additional damage reduction
- Hit Chance — Affects your likelihood of landing a hit
- Speed — Determines attack frequency
Damage Types
Aetheria features multiple damage types:
- Physical — Standard melee/ranged damage
- Fire, Ice, Energy, Earth, Holy, Death — Elemental damage types
- Healing — Restores health (not a damage type, but related)
Monster Resistances
Each monster has resistances ranging from -100% (vulnerable) to 100% (immune):
- Positive resistance — Monster takes reduced damage from that element

Advanced: Optimizing Damage
Always check a monster's resistance table before engaging. If a monster has -50% fire resistance, using fire spells will deal 50% more damage. Conversely, hitting a 80% fire-resistant monster with fire is mostly wasted.
The best hunters carry multiple weapon types and spell runes to adapt to any monster's weaknesses.
Combat Stances
- Offensive — Higher attack, lower defense (best for farming weak monsters)
- Defensive — Higher defense, lower attack (best for surviving strong monsters)
- Balanced — Equal trade-off (good default)
Spells in Combat
Spells are categorized as:
- Attack spells — Deal direct damage to enemies
- Healing spells — Restore your health
- Support spells — Buffs, summons, and utility
Each spell has a mana cost and cooldown. Manage your mana carefully during extended fights.
Group Combat
- Shared XP — When multiple players fight the same monster, XP is distributed
- Tanking — High-defense players can draw aggro while others deal damage
- Healing — Support players can heal allies during boss fights
